Myopia

Myopia

Nearsightedness or Myopia, best describes when a person cannot see distant objects clearly, but will be able to see well for close-up tasks such as reading or computer use.

Signs and symptoms of myopia include squinting, eye strain and headaches. Feeling fatigued when driving, recognising that prolonged near tasks may be a contributing factor for the start of myopia, we will advise you on the proper posture, working distance, lighting and other techniques to help reduce the impact of near visual stress.

Myopia typically begins in childhood and you may have a higher risk if your parents are nearsighted.

Myopia can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. Depending on the degree of Myopia, you may need to wear your glasses all the time or only when you need very clear distance vision like driving.

Our friendly optometrist and Optical Dispenser at the Right Sight will be happy to help you find the right solution for your needs and lifestyle.
